map markerAbout Us & Mission Statement

About Us

Children attend Funzone for many reasons including parents having to work, to make new friends, and to take part in a range of activities in a safe and supervised environment.

Funzone operates from a child led perspective, ensuring that children have access to not only planned activities, but also free play activities. Playworkers will encourage children to take part in activities of their choosing during 'free time', whilst we ensure that we have a wide variety of resources for them to do so including computer consoles, arts and craft materials, board games, reading books, role play props, big games, a football table plus much more.

Children will be encouraged to undertake risky play of their choosing, including rough and tumble play, if this is what they desire. Rest assured that our trained Playworkers will ensure that during these types of activities children are safe, and the risk is minimised by undertaking full risk assessments of all activities and involving children in their own health and safety decisions.

Mission Statement

To create an environment where people of all ages and abilities can enjoy lifelong involvement in sport, play and physical activities, alongside cultural opportunities, limited only by their own ambition and potential.

To ensure that the services delivered are high quality, continually improving, efficient and responsive to the needs of local people.

To put the customer at the heart of everything the Trust does and ensure that it provides services that are excellent value for money and that are sustainable both now and in the future.

map markerRatios, Groups & Locations

Children are split into two age groups to better manage children's stages of development. There are times within the day where both groups do come together, for instance, during lunchtimes and where free time is scheduled.

Lings Forum Leisure Centre - Minis group (5-7 years) Juniors group (8-13 years).

Billing Brook Road , Northampton , NN3 8JR

Duston Sports Centre - Minis group (5-7 years) Juniors group (8-13 years)

Cotswold Avenue, Duston, NN5 6EX

Danes Camp Leisure Centre - Children are organised in to one group (8-13 years)

Cripps Recreation Centre -Minis group (5-7 years) Juniors group (8-13 years)

*Due to the fact we are still establishing Funzone at Cripps, there may be times where we deliver one group. This would be dependent on the numbers of children booked on at any one time.

Each group is lead by a Play Leader and supported by up to three assistants. The staff to child ratio for children aged under 8 is 1:9, children 8 or over will be supervised according to a 1:13 staff to child ratio. Please note: Children aged 5 years must have started Year 1 at School.

Payments

Payment can be made by cash, credit/debit cards or cheques made payable to Northampton Leisure Trust. Fees are payable upon booking. To make a booking at any site simply call 01604 838 333.

Childcare Vouchers

What are childcare vouchers? Click here.

As Ofsted registered provisions we accept most major childcare voucher companies across the schemes. Paying for childcare using childcare vouchers saves many parents £1,000s a year. These vouchers available via a special Government scheme and operated through employers allow you to pay for childcare from your pre-tax salary.

If we are not currently registered with your childcare voucher company please speak with a member of the booking team at your time of booking and we will organise this for you. Please can we remind all parents who are currently using childcare vouchers to pay for their childcare, that they include their child’s name and Funzone site (lings Forum, Danes Camp, Duston or Cripps) as their reference.

When setting up your payment with your childcare voucher provider you will need to provide our Ofsted registration number for the relevant Funzone location your child is attending. These are:

  • Lings Forum – EY429927
  • Danes Camp – EY441184
  • Duston Sports Centre – EY458219
  • Cripps Recreaton Centre - EY492120
