The event has been organised with the philosophy of free play and enjoying the great outdoors very much in focus, with children and their families encouraged to be physically active and maintain healthy lifestyles.

National Play Day is free of charge and will include activities for under 5’s, a climbing wall, arts and crafts, a reptile display, sporting activity, magic displays and workshops, as well as freely chosen activities by the children who attend. In addition parents and children will also have an opportunity to give their views on children’s play facilities and opportunities across Northampton.

Chris Serbyn, the Play and Health Development Officer at Northampton Leisure Trust comments, “the latest Child Health Profile published in June 2015 by Public Health England indicated that 8.7% of children aged 4-5 and 16.8% 10-11 year olds living in Northamptonshire are classified as obese. National Play Day provides a great day out for children and their families to take part in a wide range of activities keeping them active and entertained.”
