Northampton Leisure Trust is encouraging families to start 2015 in the healthiest possible way by introducing Healthy Heroes, a FREE healthy living programme for children aged 7-13. Available at Bellinge Community Centre in Northampton, the aim is to help children who are above a healthy weight get fitter, healthier and happier.

The programme helps families change their eating and exercise habits to improve their child’s physical activity levels, nutrition and self-esteem. Families take part in fun and informative 2 hour sessions and activities, once a week for 7 weeks.

Lawrence Kay, Sport and Play Development Manager, at Northampton Leisure Trust highlights the importance of the programme, “Inspiring active lifestyles is a key message in the work we do within the community. Healthy Heroes is a really fun and engaging programme that adopts a whole family approach and can have a really positive impact on children’s lives.”

The course will run on Thursday’s between 6pm-8pm and begins on 8 January 2015 with the last session taking place on the 26 February 2015. Funded by Community First and delivered by Northampton Leisure Trust, places on the Healthy Heroes course are FREE on a first come, first served basis. Families interested in participating should contact Chris Serbyn on 01604 838049 or Michelle Aveyard at Bellinge Community House on 01604 411473.
